Bio

I have been a professional writer for over fifteen years, mostly within the fields of advertising and marketing. In my time I’ve written for companies as diverse as Ford, Guinness, Pizza Hut, Aspen Skiing Company, Sun Microsystems and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
I’ve won many awards for my ads, including the PPA UK Business To Business Ad Of The Year Award in 1999. I was also the US correspondent for Human Resources magazine for some time, and wrote several articles for Campaign magazine, the leading advertising publication in the UK .
I completed my first novel, ‘The Disappearing Air‘, last year. It’s a rollicking adventure that pits three young friends against the diabolical Happy Smiles Corporation, whose motto is ‘Profit At Any Cost’. There are a couple of sample chapters on the ‘letters’ page. I have also written some short stories for adult audiences.
I am – it almost goes without saying – a devout fan of truly great science fiction, particularly the Golden Age writers. I’m also an accomplished DJ who has played all over the world, from London to Majorca to Aspen. I adore playing poker, which is a great shame since I am rather useless at it. I also adore Sheffield Wednesday, a soccer team of such epically bad proportions that there is simply no hope, no hope at all.
Finally I am a dedicated runner and gym rat. My particular specialty is running in the heat (I maintain a website, Heat Running, dedicated to that dubious pleasure) and I can be found trotting around Death Valley every July, when the temperature frequently hits 127F. My idea of a good workout at the gym is to don three layers of thermals before jumping around in the sauna for an hour.
I live in Longmont, Colorado.
